Our Story
Sonoma County Goods is run by us, two local food enthusiasts, Joy Jacobsen and Dinora Benites. We are very passionate about quality food and tasting new flavors, especially when we don't have to travel far to experience both. From the farmers who dig in the soil to grow it, to the people in the kitchens preparing it, we want to meet everyone responsible for creating such a heavenly array of goodies here in Sonoma County.
While both studying Managerial Economics at UC Davis, we came up with the idea to use what we have learned about business development by creating a small gift box business based on our favorite foods produced in Sonoma County. We decided it could be a useful platform in promoting the artisans of the products that we are so proud of. We started speaking with Sonoma County producers and writing small articles about their methods. After reflecting on what we should do with all this information, we came up with the idea (and to follow the trend) of putting together a collection of our favorite county specific foods into a subscription box. We learned that seasonality is crucial when considering fresh items, so we decided on creating our boxes based on a quarterly shipment schedule. This way you can receive a box on your doorstep at the beginning of each season to properly acclimate your taste buds, and your kitchen, to the upcoming weather.
In addition to our subscription boxes, we are now offering Corporate Gift Boxes designed to give to your employees, associates and valued clients. These big gifts of flavor are a memorable way to show someone your appreciation.
Our business model is simple; Buy, sell and promote the products made here in Sonoma County. In turn, the money in circulation is brought in and stays in our area to help keep our local economy and community healthy. We hope you enjoy our boxes of handpicked local goodness. We carefully pack each one in our garage and we can not wait to share some new seasonal flavors with you.
